Study Tour of Irish Food

Study tour of the Irish Food by Master Students from the University of Gastronomy in Italy from Wednesday June the 24th to July the 2nd 2009

Wednesday: Arrive Cork Airport and travel to Schull in West Cork
Thursday : Gubeen cheese and BIM fishery presentation in West Cork
Friday :Ballymaloe – cookery school & fruit & vegetable gardens

Saturday 27th

Farmers Market in Midleton, tour of Whisky Centre & tasting
Saturday evening 7 p.m. Dungarvan, artisan beef at Nude Food with Louise Clark, Joe & Eileen Condon & local cheese maker

Sunday the 28th

9 a.m. Walking tour of city centre, Coffee in Granary café, Waterford Treasures presentation followed by visit to shops in City Square
1 a.m. Lunch celebrating all that is best about Irish Beef at the Ocean Hotel Dunmore East followed by visit to Farmers Market and local Food Festival
4 p.m. Visit Mick Kelly’s “Trading Paces” vegetable garden, hens & pigs
7 p.m. Bacon & Cabbage evening in Harney’s in Dunhill followed by traditional session

Monday the 29th

Breakfast with Ray Cullen & staff in WIT
Tour of culinary training facilities in WIT
Visit organic Centre in New Ross followed by lunch
Dunbrody famine ship experience
Barbecue of Comeragh Lamb on Mahon Bridge hill farm of Willie Drohan including hill walking & sheep shearing

Tuesday the 30th

Cheese making at Knockdrinna in Kilkenny [cows, sheep & goats cheese]
Tour of trout farm at Goatsbridge, Thomastown followed by lunch with Ger & Mag Kirwan
Tour of artisan brewery in Carlow followed by a tasting session

Wednesday

Bord Bia presentation in Dublin
Free time in City
7 p.m. Launch of Irish raw Cheese Presidia in Hilton, Charlemont Square D2
