Cheese & Wine Tasting 'On the Pig's Back'

What a beautiful day it was last Saturday, the sun was shining, the sky was blue and when entering the cafe of Isabelle Sheridan, you could forget that you were in an industrial estate but that you just stepped into a piece of France.









Isabelle was our host for the night and we couldn't have asked for a better or nicer one. Her wonderful staff stayed on to prepare the cheeses for us and added smiles to each plate.






Monica Murphy from LeFebvre is not only an amazing wine expert but also a great entertainer. She has met almost - let's make that everyone - in the food and wine business and she shared some wonderful stories with us.





Below are the wines and matching cheeses we had on the night. All wines can be ordered via LeFebvre.

1. Agnusdei Albarino with Killeens Fenugreek

2. Monte Fiorentine Soave Classico 2008 with Cratloe

3. Sepp Moser 2007 Riesling with Gabriel

4. Jordan Chardonnay 2006 with Smoked Gubbeen

5. Mas Neuff Costieres de Nimes 2007 with Cooleeney

6. Pinot Noir with Ardharan

7. Cune Rioja Reserva 2005 with Coolea

8. Callabriga Reserva Alentejo 2004 with Hegarty Mature Cheddar

We also had a dessert wine at the end of the tasting with a lovely blue cheese but my notes ended with the 8th wine (that is proof enough how much I actually enjoyed myself)



A big thank you to Isabelle and her fantastic staff who gave up their Saturday evening for us, Monica Murphy who came all the way down from Dublin and of course all our guests who joined us and made this event a success.
